White House Fence-Jumper Has a Troubling Backstory That Should Make Americans Very Concerned

This is from Independent Journal Review.

The question that needs to be asked is Why Omar J. Gonzalez, was sent back to Iraq after being diagnosed with PSTD?

This is clear evidence on how the Veterans Administration is failing our veterans.

The intruder who scaled the fence Friday and made it all the way into the White House before being apprehended has been identified as a homeless Army veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

According to a family member, Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, suffers from combat trauma. He offered this explanation for Gonzalez’s actions:

“We talked to him on 9/11 and he said he planned to go to a Veterans Administration hospital to seek treatments. He’s been depressed for quite some time.

He’d been taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication. I suspect he stopped taking it, otherwise this wouldn’t have happened.”

According to the relative, Gonzalez was diagnosed with PTSD after a first tour of duty in Iraq: “But they sent him back for a second tour,” he said.

Gonzalez was arrested and taken to George Washington Memorial Hospital for evaluation. If the assertion that he was indeed diagnosed with PTSD following a first tour of duty in Iraq is true, why was he sent back for a second tour?

While initial reports said that the Army veteran was unarmed, the Secret Service confirmed Friday night that he was “carrying a VG-10 black folding-knife, a pocket knife with a 3.5-inch serrated blade.”

Scrutiny is now focused on the Secret Service, as well, which said Saturday that “the location of Gonzalez’s arrest is not acceptable.”

As we asked in an earlier post, what might have been the result if he had been strapped with a suicide vest and/or carrying a firearm?

Questions abound. Given the threat posed by ISIS and others, answers must be forthcoming – and appropriate actions taken. Pronto.
